Check out what my neighbor has. Crazy.

Pretty Cool. I’m a huge Tesla Geek.

What?! Is that going to be the cyber taxi? I thought it has no steering wheel. Does your neighbor work for Tesla? Bringing home prototype? Interesting. My neighbor works there and borrowed a cybertruck for a weekend. Little kids on bikes and bigger kids playing pickleball tested its durability and set off security system 5,000 times. He did not bring it home again.

Looks interesting. No chance against Waymo though. The data they have collected by now makes it hard for anyone to follow, even Tesla - which is still not able to provide a reliable self-driving feature after all this time. But it is good to have competition. I am sure Uber will go with Waymo eventually.

(Admittedly, I am biased).

those seats look so uncomfortably flat.

the car itself has a nice shape, but Tesla interiors just always look so cheap to me even with their giant lcd monitor in the middle. luxury looking on the outside, economy base model on the inside

They do!

That unit doesn't look like the interior is complete. Look at the foot area.

Interesting... just in 2025, not long ago, TESLA was claimed to have collected 66X more driving data then WAYMO. Sounds logical given they have 8.5 million vehicles colleting data as opposed to 3000 for WAYMO.

I have FSD (supervised) with HW3 on my 2018 Tesla and I'd say it's reliable. It can drive me 1hr+ from my house in Pittsburg to San Jose with no intervention. Just need to move the steering wheel occasionally so it knows I'm still paying attention. I've heard HW4 on the 2024+ and newer models is way more advanced and more features.

(Admittedly, I am a Tesla fanboy) :)

As I always tell everyone, Tesla is a software company who started selling Cars! They have a wonderful software, FSD on Juniper is top-notch and they have built cars and selling them at a price where all of America can drive an EV.. It's arguably the best utility vehicle available in the market today at that price point..

I personally dont like how any of the Teslas look except probably Model S (which is too low for a 6' 4" guy like me).. Model Y looks like a fancy Prius (no offense to Prius or Model Y owners :), I drive MY myself).. And special mention of the Cybertruck's design inspiration....

Interiors suck more (Probably a trade-off when paying a seemingly low price for a highly advanced EV!).. Felt like such a huge downgrade after driving Benz for 6 years.. I absolutely hate their arrogant sales guys.. When purchasing one I asked if there are any corporate discounts available.. the sales guy said "Are You Elon's Girlfriend?".. I said "do I look like one?" he said "even if you said yes, I wouldn't be able to give you a discount".. I went home fuming, only to go back to a different dealer to purchase Model Y haha.. Didnt find another car in the 50-60k range that would feed my needs (though I realized later that higher insurance on Teslas kills a lot of the gas savings).. Same experience when purchasing Solar.. slow/no replies irritated me and I went with someone else.. All that to say, they should probably just stick to Software - Sales, after sales, Hardware (which they source a lot of it from outside already), Design etc are definitely not their forte!

they really arent and advanced EV though BYD and Huawei are so much better and cheaper they banned them from the US cause our EV can't even compete with them.

the S is a 14 year old platform that while it has has plenty of revisions, a majority of them are just so they are cheaper to produce.

There are also much more EVs available these days, and Tesla appears now as plain vanilla choice.

I drove a BYD as a rental car in Germany last month, and was not too impressed with the quality and the driving experience - specifically on the autobahn (I drive fast).

Not a fan of BYD or Huawei more broadly, as both receive substantial Chinese gov subsidies.

Japanese EVs might be the ones to beat eventually.

If I had to buy a new car it would be a Lucid - or a Prologue :). Just bought a used BMW EV for my kid(s), and I love it so much I am always driving it :).
