DIY Wavebox

Anyone want to try to make a wavebox and controller from an existing Tunze?

You've seen the other builds, right? Not hard at all from looking at them (non Tunze driven in fact)

The one I saw in depth, Tunze driven, was very simplistic in nature and seemed quite easy to build.

I've seen others (modded maxis?) that clicked everytime the pump went on and off, not too many DC powered pumps out on the market that will allow you to ramp up/down.

Gresh, that's what inspired me was the mods I saw. I have 2 6055's that I will mod and make controllers for. Who's down?

I made one but I used a tunze 6101 pump and an aquaurf controller and it works fine

what size tank do you have yours on?

I did it on a 210, and got 1-2" of wave going

no i use the aquasurf hooked up to my aqua controller

I made the controller this week and it works fine but the 6055 clicks when it turns on. Is there a way to get rid of the clicking? I didn't make the wave box yet. Will that reduce the clicking?

IIRC, those pumps don't turn completely off when in wave maker mode, so that might be your problem if you're hearing a clicking sound.

you're right. i finally dialed it in correctly and the clicking stopped. at first i had one full wavelength dialed in but it was hard to catch the sweet spot. i reduced the frequency to get just a half wavelength. the adjustments are hard because the potentiometer is so sensative. i used a linear taper but maybe an audio taper would allow finer adjustment in the frequency range i'm looking for.
