Feeding gobies

Hi

I am going to be the owner of a Toby sometime this week. The previous owner fed it frozen food and Hikari pellets.

I am trying to figure out which Hikari pellets would be best and should I look into sinking pellets as well. Also eventually I do want to start trying to house a mandarin.

Thx

What kind of goby is it? Maybe the previous owner could tell you what they’re using since it’s what it’s used to?
Right now I mix omega one marine pellets and Hikari seaweed extreme in an auto feeder, and also giving frozen brine or mysis. Every goby I’ve had eats it all up.

No expert, but the gobies I’ve had have been pretty straightforward with feedings. I do like to cut the flow for the guys down in the sand to have a fair chance when feeding frozen.
One thing to consider if you haven’t already is the possibility of sand all over the place. My watchman goby does a whole lot of burrowing but not a lot of sand sifting for food from what I see. Still seem to have a leather full of debris almost daily. The golden head (blue stripe, or various other names) started sifting immediately and has probably moved every grain of sand in the 30gal twice over the last week. Every day there’s sand on corals, but I’m also cutting the flow to feed the mandarin so it’s not a bother for me to blow the sand off at the same time.
When researching I saw people complaining about it saying they wish they realized they made such a mess, and also saw people saying they don’t keep sand sifters for that reason, so I figured I’d worth mentioning.

the seller has not told me as of yet. as of now, do not have an address either. i was supposed to pick it up today...sigh!

hoping it is these - Watchman Goby (Cryptocentrus cinctus) and a Pistol Shrimp (Alpheus bellulus).
Bingo!
Thank you
Now we’ve got something to work with.
They’ve got small fragile mouths.
Frozen foods for “small fish”
Rod’s, lrs, prime reef flakes, Cyclopes,
Offer ALL of these simultaneous as a mix in a squirt bottle
Key is to purchase a feeding (and pooping) specimen

Good to know. I was getting ready to toss out my prime reef flakes wondering if I would ever use it again.

Is that lights out feeding for pods, etc.? Or when I fish feeding times?
If you add them after dark greater chance of more living long enough to find hiding spots. Some will always make it of course. But lights on dumping them in sounds dinner bell. It also helps if you pause flow for around ten mins to let them find a spot not required by any means.

You will find some dump them lights on. Others do lights off. No wrong answer
