High Magnesium levels after water change

When I did my water change this past weekend my magnesium levels jumped from 1350 to 1620. I used Coral Pro Salt and make my own RODI water. It's a new tub of salt so I am guess the parameters are off in the batch? This is for a 70 gallon tank. All other parameters are in check. I have a Apex Trident that does all the measurements.

Did you measure the newly mixed water? Assuming you change 20% of the water, to get a 300ppm increase in DT, your new water must have incredible amount of Mg. Or your test is off.

You probably need to mix the salt around by itself. I use a paint stir on my cordless drill to mix the salt before mixing it with water. It’s possible what you mixed with rodi was more concentrated with magnesium.

My theory: your level was low before the water change because your Trident has been reading high. Explains the big jump.

In my experience with RSCP, it mixes out to about 1600ppm for Mg.
