If you have bryopsis, it would be nice if you would write it on the lid next time. I’m 2 for 2 with bryopsis outbreaks after swaps lol

With these preventable pests i just need to treat the frag differently is all

This isn’t meant to accuse, be ungrateful to, or to antagonize anybody, just a suggestion — and hopefully pests will be easier to label in future swaps if we end up making a standard fill-out label with a “pests:” space
Fluc doesn't always wipe it out with the one treatment. I've seen it show up again afterwards without adding anything new to the tank.

Both times, no bryopsis for months before, and it shows up some time after. This time I did find bryopsis on a couple frag plugs after a day or two. I did some scrubbing and re-plugged one, but wasn’t enough or some bit got off

I think the not-OG-Oregon tort that I have is a third tort species, not just Cali tort. I also have Cali tort, and it looks completely different.

[edit]- It’s also not Miyagi tort, I have that too, and also looks completely different
Did you bring any to the swap labeled “oregon tort”? I got one from (i think) you, it’s the one Derek IDd as cali tort

Yes I did. I labeled it Oregon tort since that’s what it was labeled when given to me, and it’s a blue tort. Members have speculated that it is Cali tort or Miyagi tort, but side by side it’s clearly not either of those, was the point of my post. Lacking a better name we could call it BAR Blue Tort.

Could it be the Jake Adams "Immortal" tort? It's also blue, and has a bit of a different growth pattern...but honestly there are just so many different blue torts!

I forgot about immortal tort. When I saw a reef builder video of it I wanted it immediately,

I brought a frag of (supposed) oregon tort to the swap. Frag was a last minute addition and fresh cut so hope it is doing ok!
I purchased the original here: https://www.barrierreefaquariums.com/collections/coral/products/original-oregon-tort
Interested to hear if anyone has thoughts on its authenticity.
Growth pattern is a little weird because I accidentally mounted it upside down and pointing downward. I expect I can bring some more next swap.

Looks pretty legit, though I agree it's not the typical growth pattern - though the typical pattern can be seen in various parts of it if you look closely. This is how mine is growing in - a little chunkier than what you see sometimes. I think it probably has to do with flow. Does yours get very high flow ?

Immortal tort doesnt get that growth form unless you chuck it into really high light. If this is immortal tort, that would be really cool, but there’s many different torts.

A BAR line of corals would be cool though lol

Flow is quite high - I have 2x MP40s that run full blast most of the day in close proximity.

I think that is Cali Tort - also awesome, and that's a very nice frag from @JVU (I think most people would prefer that over the little dragon dildo looking Oregon tort frag you got from me!).

The big giveaway is the green - Oregon has zero green anything. Cali tort (and miyagi) get neon tips sometimes, and some darker green hues in the flesh between corallites.

Cali tends to be branchier and have more knobby growth, whereas Oregon is a little smoother and uh...pointier? Oregon is a little bit of a brighter, more vibrant blue. Really stunning when they are healthy - one of my favorite corals all time. And they grow slow AF.

Here are pics from my tank.

I will never be able to look at an Oregon tort again without thinking “dragon dildo”.
