I need to rehome my 13 gal tank

I haven’t been on here in a long time. My 13 gal tank with soft coral and paired Darwin clownfish has been doing great for the past few years…

I live in an old apartment building in San Francisco. I assumed the place had horrible outdated wiring but last night made that apparent. My fish tank setup started a small electrical fire. Luckily my partner was awake and able to respond to the situation.

I can’t risk that happening again… if anyone is looking for a small but very stable system with some really sweet and healthy clownfish, coral and a few inverts please hit me up. I have to do something about this…

I don’t know what happened. Honestly tho. A 13 gallon aquarium can not pull that much power to over load an apt building circuit. I can help power audit your aquarium if you like. Most likely it was equipment failure of some sort. If I had to guess probably a power strip. I’m here it help if you like.
I’m glad you still have an aquarium. I thought you gave up years ago.

I appreciate your offer but I can’t afford to have equipment fail again because it could happen when I’m not at home or sleeping. I really need to rehome this tank

Please let us know if know if no one reaches out about picking up the tank. We could definitely arrange for some one to get it until someone is interested in a nano tank.

Also let us know what member arranges to pick it up. We would also be intrested in seeing how they continue what you have started.


Judging by your pictures you have done very well with the tank. It's really unfortunate about the power issues. I have a older apartment so I totally understand power issues. I have many things we can can't use at the same time. Washer has to be paused to use microwave, ac has to be turned off to use toaster. My tanks have to be plugged in strategically on different breakers otherwise they start tripping. Good luck and please feel free to reach out with any more concerns.

Hi Michael, can you find someone to pick up the tank? There is great coral, live rocks and inverts. I live up a 3 story walk up. I am available all day. My number is 6183045303
 
I could see the tank plus equipment being a sweet raffle prize for an event. People like it all put together. After checking the electrical parts of the equipment hopefully. And if someone is willing to do the hard part of picking it up etc.

Can you take the tank? Do you have some water ready to refill it or should I get more water set up to hold out for a few days? It still has some hermits in it
