Hey everyone,
I wanted to extend an invitation to our reefin' brothers and sisters at BAR for the Northern Valley Reefers upcoming meeting on Saturday, Februrary 28 in Stockton. I know it may be a far drive for a few, but is well worth the drive. For our annual "New to Saltwater" meeting we have MACNA/IMAC speaker and WetWetMedia mentor Scott Fellman coming to speak on not one but TWO topics “Your Next Marine Aquarium” PLUS “Aquascaping for the Aesthetically Challenged.” Admission is always free and open to everyone!
Scott has mentored fellow hobbyists since 2002 on Bob Fenner's WetWebMedia.com site, and was Co-Editor of WWM's Conscientious Aquarist online magazine. Scott has written several articles for Freshwater and Marine Aquarium Magazine, "C" Journal, and other online venues. In addition to speaking at clubs throughout the country, Scott is past President of his local club, the Marine Aquarium Society of Los Angeles County, has spoke at MACNA XIX and XX, and at IMAC 2008 in Chicago, and has spoken at many clubs throughout the nation. He is working on completing a book on marine biotope aquaria and aquascaping.
“Your Next Marine Aquarium” is going to be presented for the first time to any club at our event. For the salty veteran or the saltwater rookie, starting out or building a new system you have a fresh slate! All those great ideas you thought about, corners you cut and are now paying for, the envy you have for your friend's tank it's time to make it right the ship! This is about all those little ideas that you need to incorporate into your next system you know - the one you are gonna do RIGHT this time!
“Aquascaping for the Aesthetically Challenged” Of all the disciplines within our hobby, the one that eludes many of us is aquascaping. In this presentation, we'll look at some of the basics of designs, with considerable attention paid to rockwork and mimicry of natural structures. We will see some amazing marine aquariums and examine some ideas that can help you create truly unique aquariums of your own! This is not just aquascaping, it’s Aquascaping for the “Aesthetically challenged”
Meeting Starts at 12 Noon. Food & Drinks are available for purchase from the Valley Brew staff. So bring your appetite for great food & great marine aquarium information!
