Is this HLLE?

We’ve had this convict tang for a couple years now and it looks like he’s developing HLLE. The divots around his face have been there for a while, but I think the ones going along the side of his body are relatively new. He eats well as you can see he’s very fat. The water quality is good as far as I can tell. Our nitrates are a little high, but nothing out of control. I’m not really sure what’s causing this or how to address it. Any thoughts?

Looks like erosion on the lateral line from the pick which is a common HLLE symptom..It can be treated and stopped! Reach out on Humble Fish alot of info there! Never treated hlle so unfortunately can’t advise but I have a large 9+ blue tang I got from a fellow reefer who previously had HLLE and is totally fine just a few scars left..

We run some of the BRS carbon, but it has been off and on. I recently upgraded to a dual reactor with carbon and GFL. But that’s only been running for about six weeks.

He’s our only tang. We lost a Gem tang about four or five months ago, but she never showed any signs of this condition. It looked like there was a big rumble the night she died as many of the fish showed signs of battle.

We’ve been feeding Nori regularly since day one. I give them one sheet per day. Usually include flakes every other day and I always soak those in Selcon, but I’ll start soaking the frozen food (brine, mysis, etc) and I will also put some on the Nori moving forward
 
I’ve had a few tangs over the years with it and I feel that I have 90-95% healed it. It takes a really long time tho like years and years.
You gotta feed a lot of nori like lots daily. For those kinda fish are 99.99% vegetarian but in our aquariums we feed lots of pellets and meats. Not enough veggies
