Most of the acros I added were in November. I wish I added more acros from the start.

I will be switching from ESV to Triton "Others" next month as I want to incorporate an additive with elevated trace elements. I had success with Triton additives on my Cade tank.

Parameters now:

  • Nitrate 11.2 - increased NH4 dosing so I can reach ~20.
  • Phos 0.377 - tank seems to stay around this range, so I will maintain it.
  • ALK 7.8 - my target is 7.5
  • PAR seems to be 250-300 at the middle height of the tank. I am slowly increasing my LED's power to see if I can hit 350-400. Running the lights at 73% at the moment.

Is this Triton's monthly subscription which comes with a monthly trace additive based on your ICP?

No, it is basically the Triton core additives for tanks without a refugium. It still contains the major, minor, and trace elements — just less trace elements because the lack of a refugium.

I got the Triton Flex additives so I can choose to use it as a 2-part rather than a 3 or 4-part.
 
From what I’ve read, Triton supplements trace elements rather than acting like a part C which ESV does. However, you still might have to dose individual traces depending on what coral you have and how big they are. I think I’ll be happy regardless since traces are still being dosed.
 
Main return pump (Sicce) impeller shaft snapped after cleaning the pump and turning it back on. I guess it wasn’t aligned properly somehow. Luckily, I run redundant pumps and I am running the other pump at 100%. I have bad luck when it comes to cleaning return pumps.

My Abyzz A100 broke after turning it back on and they said it was because it ran dry and it melted the pump. I wonder if I should pay $400-500 to repair the Abyzz.

Which Sicce pump was that?

How do you typically clean your pumps?

Syncra SDC 6. This time I cleaned it with only water and scrubbed out the particulate matter since it wasn’t that dirty. It was my first time cleaning the pump at the 1 year mark. I’ve cleaned other equipment with citric acid if they are calcified.

Thats disappointing - but still under warranty?

Abyzz does not recommend cleaning their pump with anything else than their own cleaning solution, which is sulfamic acid. Alex/Abyzz CEO mentioned in several German speaking videos how other cleaning solutions are bad for pumps and other equipment, which is why they would only use sulfamic acid, or even better, water only.
