got ethical husbandry?

Mr Aqua Tank, anyone have one?

I was thinking on buying one as my nano set up and drilling an overflow. My biggest concern is, the seams. I'm affraid of it splitting on me. Does anyone own one as a reef tank? the quality is comparable to an ADA, but would it hold like it?

input is appreciated. thanks.

I've only heard good things about them in terms of build strength but I have only owned a ADA as far as rimless glass.

Isn't greenleaf and Mr Aqua the exact same thing? Same dimensions, stands etc. Both made in germany

*edit* both use "special" silicone made in Germany

I have no clue.

you're the blogger around here... what's RB got to say on this? :)

ADA tanks are made in germany, they state using special silicone as well. Ed even the larger ADA tanks have silicone issues.

In the freshwater planted world, Mr. Aqua tanks are fairly common and have a sturdy reputation. IIRC, Mr. Aqua is a trade name owned by JBJ, so it's roughly 85-95% the quality of ADA, at fraction of the cost. Frankly, I use them and like them.

I have a 33gal from Mr. Aqua for my freshwater community tank, purchased second-hand from a local reefer who was moving. Banged it up a little while transporting it, and chipped one of the edges, but no worse for wear. Also have one of their 17gal acting a QT tank.

Occasionally I stumble across a complaint about bubbles in the silicone, chipped edges (damage in shipping, usually), etc., but I can't recall any catastrophic tales about the Mr. Aqua tanks.

Good luck in your search!

Nice choice! The dimensions on the 33gal are fantastic, I have excellent coverage with a single hanging 70W MH on the planted tank.

Getting a stand to fit the tank's footprint is another story. :)
