Always nice to setup new tank. Your going at it the right way by going slow. When do the corals go in? 210gal for me would be the ideal size. Keep sending pic's.

Getting frags this weekend will put them in my qt for a bit then move them to the main tank.

For corals I'll put them in quarantine tank for 72 days before introducing to display this will mitigate ich from spreading or lower the chances. I have full spectrum led in quarantine tank. Just need to do weekly water chances to help with depleted parameters

I could be wrong but my understanding is that the ich needs a fish to complete its life cycle. The ich can live on hard surfaces (like a coral or invertebrate or rock) for a couple weeks during one of its phases but needs a fish host once it comes out of that phase. So I think quarantining your corals for 72 days is overkill and I'm pretty sure the dips do not kill ich.

72 days is the recommended length of time to leave a tank fallow. This is because tests have shown that ich cysts can stay alive for 72 days. There has been studies that certain strains can live longer than that.

So for the coral qt to be effective against ich, there cannot be any fish in the tank. And every time something wet is added to the tank before the 72 days is up, clock is reset.

I just learned something new today. I was always told ich was a 30-40 day thing. As for corals in qt , is anybody using interceptor?
