Oceanic 40gallon Sps tank.

Definitely aimming to 2 out the door soon.
My improvised attempts at testing par on various lights picutures below. For the 40gallon tank i will swap for my main tank.
Tested one of the knock off radion xr30 blues, 2 kessils 360we, 1 kessil 360x.
In a attempt to find a option that produces higher than 260 par (the current max with current biocube32 light modifications).
The xr30- maxed at about 260-250 roughly same as I currently have.
The 2 360we's didn't maxed at 250 with 100 precent intensity.
The 360x only got to 220 par.
At this point I’m even willing to use 2 of the 4 the 360 xs i had planed to use on main tank if it can produce par over 400.
My main tank I’m now planning sps dominant tank. 210gallon will be the mixed reef.

It's interesting if I can get similar results with two kessils. Either the 360x or (360we by taping the reflector to them mentioned on post #15.)
Ordered two of these 55 degree reflectors today.
There are also 35degree reflectors if the 55 ones don't give enough par, however I think they should. With 2 360s on a 24 inch long, by 21.5 wide, and around inch deep. Would need to measure again to be certain but thats the rough measurements I recall from memory.
Hopefully it works. And I can figure out a way to mount them without using my butchers kitchen twine lol

I finally got the tank set up.
1. lights mounted
I took 2 out of the 4 kessil 360x I had intended to use on the 210gallon and mounted them on this tank for thw ability to get higher par. I added the 55degree reflectors and retested par. And I was able to get 600 par half way down if I ramped the lights up to near max. At 50% I was able to already exceed the max par of my biocube32. So I'm happy with the par potential these lights will give.
2. Saltwater added
I need to figure out ato for this tank. I wasn't considering where to put one when i filled the tank so most likey will have to drain it to move it over a few inches to leave space for a ato reservoir in the corner.
3. I have 2 Rock structures. One will be a new one I need to cut some of the structure off to fit in the way I wanted in the tank. The other structure will be the current main rock structure in the biocube32.
4.) I have some dry crushed coral I'm saving to add to the crushed coral that's in the biocube32 already. This tank is slightly larger so will need more than I currently have in old tank.
I will keep wire management simple. Wires behind the tank maybe peice of wood to just cover them up. So only power strip is visible. Inkbird and mp10 (when I actually swap tanks) controllers just mounted to side of tank. Only the return pump controller is inside cabinet.
I have a deal in the works to aquire are nyos 120 skimmer for this tank.
This tank will be sps dominated.
210 will start out as mainly softy and lps.
This tank will have to however hold my torches and hammers etc until the 210 is. Actually ready to go.

Man you’ve been busy! Looking good! Only thing I’d say is that power strip there makes me a little nervous. I’d attach it to the wall instead if possible.
Lots of dremmel cuts later and the first rock is in. I also add some of the dry crush coral just to get it soaking. The actual live rock and crushed coral will be added when tank is actually swapped.
Plan to let this run a while before doing the tank swap. Maybe even add some bottle bacteria. Anything to help have a smooth Transition. Currently main tank is well dialed in. So hopefully with patience I won't loose Anything.

So I'm slightly bummed out. Sps has really started taking off in main tank. Corals that weren’t doing anything started growing and coloring up. They're still growing and coloring up.
I've seen a burst of new growth tips and encrusting through out all of the sps.
However last night my walt disney was looking great even new growth tips. I get home from work and it's completely white.
Very puzzling especially considering all the other sps is looking better than ever. I've had this disney for probably over a year. As the the center peice of my sps collection. Is there any chance it can make a come back from rtn I assume it is?
Otherwise I will have to trying to find a replacement disney from some one once I get tank swaps over to the 40gallon.
No changes in routine. No new coral addtions of any kind to main tank in 5 months.
Again only a single coral is effected everything else still looks amazing.

No way something could something have touched it directly. A tentical coming off and touched it couldn't say but would have had to be a one in a millon chance to hit only that one if something like that happened.

Finally got off my butt and got the nerve to do the tank swap.
All live stock shifted over, mp10s, crushed coral and the other rock structure. I also put together a magnet net top together for the tank. Sadly @Darkxerox gave me some white netting to use. However I was extra careful to put it up where I wouldn't loose it. Only problem I forgot where I put it so I only know it’s indeed safely put up where ever it is.
I didn't set up the ato yet. As I have a new ato device arriving soon.
I also added some frag seats to the tank so I can shift sps around as needed without them encrusting on the main rock structure like they did in the biocube32.
Future plans included:
1.) picking up high end sps a peice at a time, through buying, trading and keeping a casual eye out for great deals and interesting peices.
2.) Getting my new controller that arrived today.
I have been disscusing hydros equipment with @MarcosD for a few months now. Finally decided to take the plung and I picked it up with a sweet payment plan. 4 payments every 2 weeks for $137.50. Very minor hit to my reefing budget largely due to the fact where I bought it, included free shipping and no tax.
3.) I also got a good chunk of loyalty reward points for purchsing it. So went back and got the ato, and a skimmer cup sensor. To run with the hydros launch. I also plan to dose afr using hydros single head doser
4.) I will likely try out a apex on my frag system that's been on loan to me. Hopefully this will give me real experience with automation. That will allow me to eventually decided if I want to go the apex trident route, or wait for maven like many others are. Nothing I plan to do rapidly.
The apex it self doesn't included either of the tridents, or any extra componets. Just a power bar and 1-2 probs. So it will be very limited I Imagine for the most part.

So a minor progress update.
On another post I referenced getting at stand to make into a controller cabinet.
This covers the first part of that project. (If it goes well and I get a better idea learning from this diy venture the ones for future tanks should be better)
Package arrived yesterday.
Stand has a bottom door, but probably won't use it.
Ato reservoir fits at the bottom but doors sits inside the frame not over it, so bottom door couldn't close without turning ato side ways. I also Like to be able to see ato water level at a glance.
A better look with doors shut.
I drilled 5 holes for vents and running wires. 4 up top and one at top of ato reservoir
I'm thinking of maybe using that bottom section for the actual controller board with the future option to always go all the way to the top if more space is needed.
Alternatively I may drill holes and raise the shelf higher for slightly larger controller board.
* the current wire swtch outlet needs to be shifted. And mp10 controllers are chilling on floor so need to do something with them ad well. Ugh where to start.
