Flashback!!Wonder if anyone in Bar is using miracle mud? Leng Sy of Ecosystem is still moving alot mud he's been on several podcasts over the last few years! The original Leng Sy Purple rimmed Monticap is still popular and available that goes way back!
Man, this is me. I really should clear my sand bed as well haha. I have stuff that I want to get rid of but just need someone to give it to.I struggle with that all the time.....trying to maintain my original vision...same one you had..and resisting that urge to add more..its tough. So many different LPS I wanted to add, but stop myself.
There were a few times I asked if I really wanted to get rid of the extra rock I had, just incase I needed more space lol.
I'm constantly having to tell myself there's beauty in simplicity and not relapse and treat this as more of a collection. I think eventually I'll get a carpet or maybe an elegance for the sandbed, but im pretty driven to keep most of it clear.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's gone through this haha.
I know you're not talking about those crazy colorfull acans you had years ago! HahaMan, this is me. I really should clear my sand bed as well haha. I have stuff that I want to get rid of but just need someone to give it to.
No not those, sadly those are long gone.I know you're not talking about those crazy colorfull acans you had years ago! Haha
I actually have that mud in my frag tanks sump. I forgot about. Randomly picked up from a member for $5 i think. I added it when lowboy was first startedFlashback!!
Thank you Ian! You always have the good stuff man and im sure it's all growing like weeds for you..whatever you trim I'd be happy to pick up from you.No not those, sadly those are long gone.
Let me know if you are looking for any specific acros though. I do have plenty to frag.
Unfortunately I threw it away. Anything made before February 2024 would be affected. Roger is on R2R, and if in doubt, available for questions. All he ask is for a pic of your sn on the tag.Do you know the lot# for the batch that was made in the wet room? Happen to have the box still?
I can’t say I had the same tunze experienceLast Thursday my ATO crapped out on me. I'm running the Osmolator 3 and have had a great experience up until then.
I originally thought the sensor was just dirty so I pulled the cover off and started wiping away. While doing so, I hear the sensor sizzle and see bubbles and steam coming off it. Didn't take me long to kill the power and take a closer look at what happened. Turns out the safety sensor, which is thermoregulated, burnt out. You can see the little nub below the wire melted.
I hit up Roger from Tunze and sent him the pics. He responded quick and told me that the first batch of the sensors were assembled in a room without humidity control and condensation formed inside. After a while, this condensation frys the safety sensor and kills the unit all together.

He had a new one sent out the next day along with the tracking number. I gotta say, Tunze service is really unparalleled when it comes to taking cate of the end users. No stupid games, no overly complicated fixes of explanations...just plain interest in getting me back up and running again.
It was discouraging to see this fail at first. I've never had an issue with the old osmolator, and that sat in a vat of kalk for 5 years. Glad to see they still stand by their product tho.
I can trim at any point in time. Let me know.Thank you Ian! You always have the good stuff man and im sure it's all growing like weeds for you..whatever you trim I'd be happy to pick up from you.
Man than sucks to hear. I've been fortunate with the few issues I've had, but hope to not see the day when things go south for meI can’t say I had the same tunze experience
I had the wires become loose and exposed in a wave type stream thing
They definitely didn’t send me a replacement
It’s been several years now so I don’t remember the details
But I am glad to hear that good customer service is possible
Forsure! Thanks again Ian! You going to CFM later this month?I can trim at any point in time. Let me know.
No, I haven't been to any event since starting back up. Life has been too busy.Forsure! Thanks again Ian! You going to CFM later this month?
Was wondering about this awhile back, curious to see how it works for you!I had originally planned on using a filter roller with this tank, but after going through half a roll, decided against it from the smell that came from under the tank.
I tried a period with no sock and found i was having all sorts of crap settle in my sump so I started running mesh filter socks to catch the larger particles. No smell, but mildly annoying hearing the trickle and it felt wasteful throwing them out every 2-3 weeks. Even with cleaning every 3 days, they just clog up and don't work as good.
I saw a video on reefapalooza that featured a cartridge made by rocky mountain filter co that replaces socks and can be easily rinsed and decided to give it a try.

I run a COR 15 as a return and have it set to 53%, so the flow through my sump is rather low. I had concerns around if these would be able to handle it without clogging up quick, but they seem to be holding up well. I even cranked it up to 100% to test the overflow feature, but it took the flow like a champ and worked as designed. Ill report back in a few days on my impressions, as it's too early to tell if it will hold up. So far, so good.

Same here I saw that same video, please share how it works for you.Was wondering about this awhile back, curious to see how it works for you!
Do you have any overflow holes in the sock chamber so water flows into the sump if anything gets clogged? I know the filters themselves have an overflow protection but just wonderingI had originally planned on using a filter roller with this tank, but after going through half a roll, decided against it from the smell that came from under the tank.
