Rust inside my skimmer pump

I was cleaning my skimmer pump tonight (Bubble Blaster HY3000) and noticed some rust inside the plastic housing. I sent an email to CoralVue but in the mean time, should I remove the pump and/or be concerned about my livestock? I added a polyfilter to see if any excess metals are floating around the tank. TIA

i would be concerned. I'd almost lean toward pulling the skimmer out entirely for now but that would just be a precaution.

Remove the housing and the impeller and see what you discover, it might be that the impeller magnet has "blown up" and needs to be replaced, or it simply could be a not so stainless screw.

J's right - I had one impeller magnet blow up myself a while back. I think you can get into trouble if left long enough.

CoralVue sent me a new housing and rust proof screws. Very happy with their customer service.
