Building a new sump for my 120 gal and looking for opinions on if i should build a refugium section in my sump/refugium 40 gallon breeder while using biopellets.
In the pass i found using biopellets and chaeto seemed to be redundant. I believe the Chaeto and biopellets compete for the same nutrients and the chaeto ends up slowly dieing no matter what i did to help it. Also i dont need a deep sand bed nor as many rocks in the tank because the of the biopellets
should i still build the fuge section?
has anyone been successful using both biopellets and chaeto without the chaeto dieing over time?
heres is a couple thoughts on set up if i continue to use biopellets witch i think has more benefits than chaeto
1) Just use some sand with rock rubble for pods and try using chaeto again in the new setup
2) Just use some sand with rock rubble for pods to grow (with no chaeto)
3) No sand with rock rubble for pods (nothing else just rock rubble)
4) Basic berlin sump
5) Cryptic zone with no light
This is similar to my old sump design
