TDS Meter

Anyone have a handheld TDS meter i could borrow? Not sure if my RODI system needs cartridge replacements.

They are only about $10.00 on Amazon and it's something you should check every time.

You can also just add an inline one on. It's also cheap but may not be quite as accurate. I use both.

Yes. I have never noticed that my inline wasn't accurate either, but I was told by an LFS owner that they were slightly less sensitive. Frankly, for our purposed, either's probably fine. I like the handheld though because my set-up is on my patio and I always think the elements could get to it eventually....

i received my TDS meter and on the last batch of RO the TDS were 2. I ordered new media from BRS, but is 2 a concern? When is the best time to change the media?

my tap water measured 53

My tap is around 55 as well which is really, really good. For the aquarium most serious reefers change out filters as soon as TDS is no longer showing zero, but frankly it's probably not necessary. Five or so is pretty damn safe. A lot of "experts" will tell you that anything under 20 is fine, but I wouldn't take that risk -- even though it's not much of one.

Does your RODI unit have an inline TDS meter?
It’s easier to check on the product water if it does have one.
