I have seen some concerning posts about how this product could be possibly misused. Therefore, I would like to check if my approach is ok.
I am currently not able to use GFO to reduce my phosphate levels because I am dosing silicates to fight dinos (prorocentrum).
My phosphates have climbed up to 0.5 pm (nitrates are 10 ppm). I would like to bring them down to 0.25 ppm in the first step, and I am planning to use the following dosing strategy:
For my 26-gallon tank, I would like to dose 0.2ml/day for 7 days until I reach a total dose of 1.4ml/1.5ml. I am planning to dose into the sump, but I would prefer to not use a 5-micron filter as recommended by some folks as this seems to be a hassle given the low dose.
Does this sound like a reasonable approach?
