Water change accident - saltwater on carpet

"We" had a little accident when performing a water change for the nano tank, and the small sump got too much water and soaked the carpet around it.

Any best practice on what to do with the carpet to minimize the damage? Carpet is old so not a big problem but I would like to not need to replace it as it would require to move the tank.

Wet dry vac would've been my first recommendation too to extract sitting water. Second I would want to rinse and extract with fresh water again to remove any residual salt or organic matter that was in the water. Either with a professional machine, like the Rug Doctor kind u can rent at Home Depot, or DIY way of scrubbing in with fresh water then extracting it with the wet dry vac again.
