WYSIWYG Preorder SPS colonies

Most mariculture pieces come in lighter in color from the pictures. Over time depending on your water quality will change the color of the coral.
Definitely looking good beyond the color. Polyps are fully out. Has the tiniest hue of pink when looking very close to it it's also alot bigger than I expected. Will get a picture when I get home. Honestly didn't cross my mind to take one.

@RandyC speaking of mariculture, u might like this. I was in San Diego a couple weeks ago and checked out Kung Fu Corals when I had some time. They just brought in at least 15 speciosa colonies and many other deep waters the night before. They looked rough and speciosas being speciosas, maybe one will make it through :( the owner mentioned teal skin ones seem to be the hardest.

Specioas are evil mofos.

I've been working on this one for a month or so. Already bleached it a little, but at least it's still alive. If you see any speciosa locally, let me know!

Better to frag it early in case colony dies or give it a month to recover first? Agreed, mariculture seems more temperamental.
I’ve always just let the coral settle down for at least a month at minimum, once she’s happy and I feel comfortable I’ll cut a piece off and pray she doesn’t just get so pissed off it RTN on me. Huge gamble with mariculture.

Heres mine with an orange lens. Still pale but not dead. Noticed one of the barnacles is still alive. Anyone else has sps barnacles and will they negatively affect the sps? Figure it’s more of an aesthetic issue but not harmful

I had barnacles in my montipora back before I took them out. They lived all the way until i removed

I have a mussel that’s been living and growing for a while now. I’ve moved it twice now and now it’s in the budget tank enjoying life

@coralexotic Doomsday is doing decent in my tank. It could be better but that tank has been getting neglected.

I'm nowhere near as good of an acro keeper as you Randy. May want to chat with Tin and get a piece. It's beautiful. Not a good photo though, sorry. Got this late last night with all blues and orange filter. Tried to balance it out and reduce saturation. It looks awesome when it's happy and polyps extended. It definitely does not appreciate my elevated nutrients. I'll be making 1 or 2 boogers frags and put them into a different system to test out how it does.

I came across this post on R2R: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/how-to-successfully-keep-malaysian-speciosa-sps.1125128/

It says a critical factor for Speciosa is alkalinity between 6.0-6.5 dKH, not to exceed 7.0 dKH. Would be an interesting experiment for someone with multiple tanks...

Hmmm... I will check that out. I asked Tin about his parameters but we got off topic and never got back to it. The alk in my IM50 is 7.5-8 on average. Although, there have been some dips in the alk in the recent past and it didn't skip a beat. The other system I will be placing frags into will be around 8 also. I am not currently planning on keeping a tank with the intention of running Alk lower than 6.5.

No filter or adjustments at all

No filter only Phones auto image adjuster.

I've been getting solid poly extension from day one on this. Has the slightest hues of pink but still fairly pale. Looking foward to seeing this one fully colored up.

For $60 I have to admit this was a pretty crazy deal. This was probably 3 times the size I was actually expecting it to be. So it's eaten up a fair amount of real-estate.

Looking foward to sharing once colored up.
