Was talking to @Mozby about this. I got a new XR15 to put over my frag tank. At 100% intensity and 9” over the tank, I measured ~150 PAR in the center about 11” down (so 20” from the light). It seems very low. Thoughts?
I have a new in box xr15 blue. Want to plug mine in and try it? See if it's any different than yours.
Even without the meter you should be able to eyeball if maybe your light is just defective.A great idea! And very kind of you but it takes forever to get the meter
Not quite true. The 510 model is actually sensitive to those shorter wavelengths. It this the blue version?
If so, that's probably right...blue doesn't register as much PAR despite intensity / lux. Diffuser will also knock off 20%
Did you take the blue cap off the sensor? I know the old one didn't have a cover on it.Plugged it into the Apex and it says it is drawing 103W - so that's not the issue. Maybe I didn't measure correctly...

Was there much flow?
Too bad there isn’t a way to have the PAR meter queue more automated with reminders and penalties to keep it moving. Oh well.A great idea! And very kind of you but it takes forever to get the meter
You will get a lot more stable and reliable PAR readings with as little surface agitation as possible.Yes, a lot
