High Tide Aquatics

I have been looking for one since I saw the colony in Rich's tank. Found a frag at Blue Ocean Aquarium Woohoo.. They still have a big colony if you like froggie ;D ..

bicolors torch? I haven't seen one.. That sound pretty nice.. Can you take some pics? Oh BTW, I'm still looking for the giant Xenia ;) ;D ..

I'll try and get some pics, one of the torch's is about the size of a volleyball.

AFA Xenia, I can frag a piece for you real soon, I'll be at a tank that's got quite a bit shortly.

Neither do I, I rarely see the octopus (massive variety) at all anymore either. Last time I saw them was about 2 years ago from Sea Logic, the suckers were retailing for almost $100 each  they weren't even that transparent neon green like back in the day. I have a few customers that have real nice green frogs, but those are tanks I've serviced for years.

Jeremy, I think you need to keep a camera in the truck!

Don't know whatzup but I don't see the neon/nuclear green frogspawn at the LFS any more. >:(
[/quote]

It's due to over collection. Most likely euphylias will be banned in the states like they are in the EU>

I've been wondering when they will shut Euphyllias, Nemenzophyllias, Catalaphyllias, Plerogyra, etc. down. So few have been coming into the wholesalers that they seem to be breaking the colonies up on the wholesale level to fill orders, that is not a good sign :-

Believe it or not it's not the wholesalers doing it. When I was finishing up at Cortez we where all ready a few years into that practice. One day it was nice large ones, then the next it looked like we got the same colony broken up to fill the same amount of orders we placed :(

So I presume this type of frog is of rare quality? Well, if that is true, I have a HUGE one that has been doing GREAT in my tank for about 8 months of more. It is THE BEST piece of coral in my 14 gallon tank. He is the center piece... the one that pulls it all together. I've been considering fragging one of the smallest heads (1.5" x 1.5" when fully open) but I don't want to loose such a piece of high quality.

That is sad.

Euphyllia, in the hobby any type of branching Euphyllia is not considered rare as they tend to grow well and get passed around. Finding them on the retail level that are good quality is much more difficult. Finding a massive variety is a whole different ball game in and of itself.

BTW, nice frogspawn!

I'm not trying to say frogspawn is rare (since it is EVERYWHERE) but what I'm asking is is this specific type of frogspawn (like the picture Elite posted) rare? I paid $70 for one with 5 heads on 5 branches at All About Fish. Now it has 8 or 9 heads on 5 branches. So is the type in the pic Elite posted rare? It is the same as mine.
