Happy New Year, BAR!

2012 was a fantastic year. It’s hard to believe that just a little over a year ago, the future of the club was not looking so bright. We are thankful to all the members who stepped up, from those who served on the BOD to everyone who volunteered to help out at the events. Special thanks go out to Dave (houser) for providing his inspirational leadership and direction, and the BOD for their tenacity and drive.

Keep the 2nd Saturday of each month open, because you won't want to miss a single meeting this year! We are currently looking at a very full monthly schedule (thanks gimmito!). While 2013 is still subject to change, here is a sneak preview of what you can expect:

Jan - Potluck & DIY LED Workshop
Feb - Lance Inchinosubto, Topic: Marine Fish Diseases
Mar - Regional Frag Swap
Apr - Gary Parr, Topic: Aquarium Photography
May - Steinhart Backstage Tour
Jun - Craig Bingman, Topic: Reef Chemistry
Jul - Kessil Facility Tour
Aug - Romburg Tiburon Center Tour & BBQ
Sep - Members-Only Frag Swap
Oct - BAP (Breeding and Propagation) Workshop with Todd Gardner & Joe Yaiullo
Nov - Shu Tiny, Topic: Anemone Care and Propagation
Dec - Rich Ross, Topic: Steinhart Aquarium's 212,000 Philippine Reef Tank

There are many other exciting things in the works for 2013. We are grateful to our sponsors for generously providing fantastic hardware, supplies, and corals for our raffles. Not only do we have a full slate of awesome events lined up, there will also be new programs including: a tool lending repository, member-designed science experiments, migration to a new faster forum, and the return of member tank tours and road trips to represent BAR at events. Stay tuned as these developments occur!

BAR is a wonderful supportive community, and it is all made possible through the efforts and contributions of its very own talented and passionate members. If you are able to lend a hand in any way, please don’t hesitate to let the BOD know. Some of the BOD members will also be calling for volunteers to assist with various tasks. Regardless of your experience, we want you to be involved! This is your club, and it is your prerogative to make the club what you want it to be.

Thank you for being a part of BAR. Here is to a great 2013!

David, what a great line up!

Since it's a new year it's time to either join or renew your BAR membership. For new members this is the best time to get ABSOLUTELY every day of your annual membership at the lowest price possible, only 8 cents per day!

It's easy. Just click on the 'Membership' link on the main menu.

Sweet, Joe will be in the Bay Area twice this year. I booked him for BAYMAC 2013 last year.

member-designed science experiments,
this could be interesting...
happy new year!

I'm counting on you and everyone interested to propose and run these controlled side-by-side experiments! There is also the potential to have the results published to benefit the community at large. :D

It helps his girlfriend is from the Bay Area :D

You don't need to say it - a nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat! 0:)

All the eligible ladies and men of BAR are highly encouraged to court the bachelor/bachelorette speakers that visit the Bay Area! ;)

Sounds like the old one... I see said the blind man to the deaf man.

He'd still be flattered if you hit on him, even if you are both taken :)

My older son is prodding me to set up the old 12 gal jbj as a quarantine. I'd be willing to use it in a control expeiment.
