Perhaps, however if you take away a food source for a coral it will bleach since it cannot sustain the zoox. I've seen quite a few tanks where even in the presence of moderate amounts of light the corals have bleaching problems due to a lack of primary nutrients, my old 40g was an example of that, you may have just sped that process up.

hmm, that would make sense. I have only three gobies in 80 gallons of water and I did switch over to BB about three months ago. Should I put the GFO on hold for now and try feeding more?

Feed more, especially from the bottom up since you don't have any large fish.
