Interesting here... sometimes the water in MH here is in the 500-600 range but occassionaly it's in the 120-160 range. I don't have the schedule figured out yet on why some days are different than others. When it is in the 500-600 range I will usually put off making water if I can and wait for a 120-160 day

anywhere from 30 to 300...

I'm ditching my RODI and going DI only as my district is implementing a 35% mandatory rationing this summer, or so they say. My house all ready is a very low water using household so I'm getting punished while others that have wasted a ton till now get to replace a few things and get off easy :(

I'm getting a Culligan DI unit for work (and maybe even home). Rather cheap actually. rental is like $18 a month and the charge is like $80 but from my talks with them it would last 3 - 4 changes of my current DI which ends up being about the same cost. I end up with a lab grade water to boot :)

FWIW I'll have one brand new 180gpd RODI and a used 180gpd RODI (both spectrapure) for sale soon :) They work great.

Are you using DI as one of the stage? 40 tds product water is pretty poor.

Ya... 40 gets used to water the flowers.

I drink almost 5 times that :p

But if you get slapped with water rationing maybe going DI only is a good thing as you can always switch back afterwards.

oh cool, thanks pixel. Do you happen to know if I can use this monitor in the outdoors? My RO/DI unit is located in the backyard, unprotected by the elements.

I have DI but I'm not using it.
I'm more concerned about chlorine and etc rather than dissolved matter. I have no algae problems.
But San Jose water sucks.

You talking to me? I highly doubt you drink more water then I use for my tank :) I use ~2g a day for top off with 8 or so going to waste. 10 gallons is a LOT of water to drink in one day :p

I live in a small water district , no more than 400 meters. I average 450 TDS . Right now I am getting about 5-7 TDS on the clean side . Currently only chlorine is used to treat the water but they are making the move to use chloramine right now . The dude who runs the water plant says my water will be much better. I think he is kinda retarded based on some of the things around town I have seen him do , so I don't believe him .

Turns out our water is high in THM's .....? If I am not mistaken one of the major ones in our water is Chloroform ...... I don't know enough about chemistry to know the impact of that on my tank but I have started seeing STNing for the first time ever .

Hooked, we have chloramine in our water in Redwood City as well. I use the chloramine filters for my RO/DI unit. Maybe that would help? Not sure though what the difference is between the chloramine filter and the regular ones.

i.e. the TDS of the water I drink is nearly 5 times that... (translation... I'll drink dirtier water than he puts on his flowers)

~20 TDS in Hayward (East Bay Mud). I've seen it go as high as 30. I still refuse to drink it before it has goes through the RO unit. :) Yup, I'm a water snob.

Richmond CA, 150-170ppm dkh2.5-3...

FWIW I keep all my waste water and use it in my freshwater tanks.. It's already dechlorinated and good to go...

I was up at one of sf's water treament plants and the water coming in was around 15ppm before they added anything to it. A bottle of crystal geyser water tested out at 250ppm... hahahhaha
