Black Egg crate louver (light diffuser)

Hi Gresham,

Why would we use these? I'm not trying to be a smart ass. When would one want to lower the light in a tank? Wouldn't you just use lower wattage bulbs?
 
It's for making racks to put frags on.
Frag plugs are based (or some of them)
on a 1/2" post that fits in the holes.

I'm not sure why black either...other than it's not white.
If it's for looks, I think I would go with the chrome ones :D
 
Black is far better for presentation of frags and makes for better pictures to boot :D

White is better for reflecting light.

It a use preference deal :)
 
I have some smaller pieces if you don't want to buy a sheet :)
 
oh neat, how big of pieces do you have? I was thinking of making a multiple piece rack so that if something (like my AOG's again) falls off a plug I can go in for it without disturbing ALL the corals.
 
Well I still can't find anyone that sells the black eggcrate. I thought there was some mention of a place in SF but I can't find the thread here or anyone selling it using goggle??

I called Dublin and Pleasant Hill Tap and they only carry white or silver sytrene. I''ll try SF's jic
 
Looks like I may have found someone.... in Canada :( I may still call them to see how much it costs and they don't mention black. I'll also see what a special order from TAP would run, they guy I talked to last time sounded like they could get it.

I just called a couple places and it sounds like black isn't made. I've been told by more than one person that the styrene is less brittle? Oh well.
 
Styene is less brittle but an algae factory. Black is made but usually only sold by the case.
