I’m strongly considering getting a Red Sea Reefer 170 and was wondering whether people who have one would get one again? Has anyone had any reliability issues? Most importantly, how quiet is the tank? I plan use DC pumps and those have always been silent in my experience, but a loud overflow is annoying.

It’s very quite if return valve set properly. Skimmer is noisiest part of the system.

That’s good to hear, because I went ahead picked up a 170 today at Neptune’s. I can’t wait to get back into SPS.

Reefer 170 here! A couple months to having it for a year. No issues.

Everything is quiet. My filter sock was really loud as the water splashed down, but I just slightly lowered my return flow and it is silent. I also have a filter cup instead of a sock.

Check my build thread for a lot more detail. You'll love yours!

I did read read your journal which is on of the reasons why I got this tank. . I dunno if I have the energy to keep a tank journal, but I’ll take some photos just in case.

It's a great tank - you won't regret it! The problematic parts are small ATO and hard to arrange flow.
