Macroalgae question

Hi all,

Do macroalgae in saltwater tanks perform similar biological filtration as plants in freshwater tank? Basically, do they suck up nutrients and metals. I'm wondering if they will help to outcompete nuisance algae.

Yes. Many reefers run fuges with chaeto or other macro algae. A few plant it as well.

Thanks all. I guess the next question is, where can I find macroalgae for sale? Is this something that's even sold?
