Plus. They set up, break down , have a sound system we can use, tables and chairs, kitchen, etc.
all the other places we have to bring those things. It works out to be a lot of work hauling stuff around for 100 plus people.

@jamie Yes we can do swaps and other events at someone’s house. Or community center. If you or anyone else would like to host or has a lead please let @MichaelB know. He was just saying that when we look to rent a place that we don’t have some inside relationship with, it is shockingly expensive, which is a pretty big turn off. We’ve looked at a lot of places.

We do try to move them around the Bay. We tried for this swap but didn’t find a different location easily. Then it came down to either having it at this location or not having it until months later when we find another place. This location just happens to be awesome in several ways, including price, amenities, relatively central location, and experience to know that it meets our needs.

Brisbane is super central for the greater bay area! I'm going to learn how to make frags just for this event, exciting.
We may also put on another fragging workshop shop per routine if there is enough intrest and a few people willing to bring or donate things to be fragged. I will see about getting a thread going to disscuss that possibility in the next few days.

Oh cool! I didn't mean to put any pressure on with my comment, I went to the last workshop and am feeling confident enough to try on my colonies of softies.
No pressure at all, I plan to just will start a discussion and see where it goes.

This is one of the best locations we have for the swap - large, bright, accessible - even though it is not super near to where I live, with traffic, but close enough. I vote to always have it there :). Most other locations had downsides.

Having said this, I will most likely not be able to attend this one as I will need to catch up with tank mantainance after returning from my longer vacation on June 19 :(.

If I am away for the weekend, can I give my corals to another member to enter my corals into the swap and have that member act as my surrogate to pick?

If they aren't also picking corals for themselves as well it would likely be ok. We couldn't have one member picking for two people that may cause contention among others present.

I think this came up at the last swap actually.

Just throwing a suggestion out here, my dad has a good chunk of land in the brentwood area, good amount of dirt parking, large concrete patio, the event would be held outside. Would need to bring chairs/tables, my brother has a sound system we could use.

I dont think he would mind, especially if we threw a couple hundred bucks at him. Not sure how much the brisbane place costs, but it might still be worth it due to being inside, AC, set up and takedown, etc

That's not a bad idea, but honestly, doing it outside in Brentwood in late June, we're going to melt

Cool! Let me know and I can donate a few colonies to frag? So members can go home with some frags they put together and I can get the word out about my startup Coral Gardens.

That would be awesome. It’s looking like we will be having a fragging workshop. Date and time should be put out soon.

Edited:

It Would be great if you could attend. If not and you still Would like to donate corals to the cause feel free to directly reach out to myself or a bod member to work out the details.
