Plus. They set up, break down , have a sound system we can use, tables and chairs, kitchen, etc.
all the other places we have to bring those things. It works out to be a lot of work hauling stuff around for 100 plus people.

We pay around $500 for the location in brisbane to be clear.

I looked at a few options most that where large enough to not only hold 100 plus people but also have room to have space to swap corals etc was in deed 3-4k.

Other places could hold 100 people for like 2500 but probably not enough room to have a swap area. Not mentioning areas for coral check in, registration, setting up food, raffles, and just areas where people could hang out and chat in general.


So what we get there for only $500 is a crazy deal. In my estimation based on Searching for other places. I definitely won't say there aren't other options somewhere that could be compareable. I haven't yet found any. I also have 1 location in san jose that could work for 60 or less people. Another that could hold 200 yet I need to figure out what price range I could possibly arrange them for.

As of right now I would hate to just spend a extra $2500-3k of club funds just for the the sake of using different locations.

I'm replying to your message yet I imagine others may have similar thoughts or concerns. So please consider this more a response I'm making for the club in general for the sake of transparency.

I also plan to work on even more events for the club prehaps not as large as our frag swaps In other locations
 
@jamie Yes we can do swaps and other events at someone’s house. Or community center. If you or anyone else would like to host or has a lead please let @MichaelB know. He was just saying that when we look to rent a place that we don’t have some inside relationship with, it is shockingly expensive, which is a pretty big turn off. We’ve looked at a lot of places.

We do try to move them around the Bay. We tried for this swap but didn’t find a different location easily. Then it came down to either having it at this location or not having it until months later when we find another place. This location just happens to be awesome in several ways, including price, amenities, relatively central location, and experience to know that it meets our needs.

We may also put on another fragging workshop shop per routine if there is enough intrest and a few people willing to bring or donate things to be fragged. I will see about getting a thread going to disscuss that possibility in the next few days.
