Anyone in the club still have contacts at the Aquarium? I'll be there next weekend and would love to poke my head behind the scenes. I know this is a low possibility at this late date, but worth a try.

@Bruce Spiegelman I volunteer in animal husbandry at the aquarium. As a volunteer I’m not allowed to bring outside people behind the scenes. Only staff can do that. However, I can check to see if they can setup a tour for the club since this is something they have done in the past. I never went on that outing so I’m not sure why it stopped. Does anyone know? Also, if anyone has information on the logistics of the past club visits to the aquarium, that would help me out as well.

FYI … the coral reef portion of the aquarium (Splash Zone) is currently closed for massive renovation. The exhibit was installed in the early 2000’s and was supposed to be a temporary exhibit. But it was so popular they kept running long past its intended end date. Unfortunately, the service areas and support systems were never intended to support the exhibit for 25+ years. So, this is a much needed redo. There is going to be an amazing reef tank with a wave maker unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. They are also redoing and enlarging the penguin exhibit. The new exhibits are expected to open late this year. The aquarium has policies about posting on social media (no pictures, videos, etc), so, that’s about all I can say. It should be really spectacular when it opens up.

I also get a limited number of free tickets that I can give away each year. So, PM me if you are interested.

Thanks so much for the insight. Do you know when the reef project is planned to be completed?
