High Tide Aquatics

Yeah, just don’t think it’s worth it.

Saw that article-I do wonder who buys these fish? Assuming private collectors -but there must be a market for them. One day I am afraid I am going to click on that 10k tang hybrid from Biota by accident.

I am still fascinated how expensive fish are often not good looking. I would better understand if they were, and so it only becomes a bragging opportunity? We love all of our fish, and most of them were rather inexpensive. Probably someone that has everything already.

If I had to guess, it's probably a niche buyer or for a aquarium institution exhibit. Maybe someone that's into deep water Japanese fish and wants it to go along with their $$$ interuptus angelfish. To be fair, whenever I tell a friend that's not in the hobby that I spent $X00 on a single fish, they think it's completely absurd.

In the grand scheme, that's chump change for certain collections/collectors. And that money fuels research and sometimes conservation. The animal trade and hobbies associated with it can be a difficult thing to accept. Utimately we are all part of the system that continues to fuel the endless cycle of livestock and demand. Whether it's $3 or $3k.

Here's a $10K hybrid tang that just released yesterday.

Hahahahaha. My friends say the same thing.
