BAR Elections - 2008

Mr. Ugly

Past President
It's BAR Election time again!

Formally, a nominations committee announces candidates at the October meeting, where additional nominations can be taken from the floor. Election votes are taken at the November meeting if there is more than one candidate for any position.

As has been the practice for the past several years, we will dispense with the formal nominations committee.

All members in good standing are encouraged to consider club service in one of the following positions:

- President
- Vice President
- Treasurer
- Communications Director/Recorder
- Officer at Large - Webmaster
- Officer at Large - Forum Admininstrator
- Officer at Large - Sponsorship Coordinator
- Officer at Large - Supplies Manager
- Officer(s) at Large - additional as required

See the club by-laws for a reasonably accurate description of responsibilities for each position:

Candidates will be accepted up through the 10/11 meeting. Since we do not have a general meeting this November, we can do a November 8th online vote if needed.

This past year has been most impressive in the level of club participation and interaction. The current BOD is looking forward to seeing member interest in service as club officers for the upcoming term.

Come on BAR, let's make it happen! :D :D :D

The way it works is that all positions are open each year.

Sometimes we don't have interested candidates for a position, so we have members that end up serving due to coercion, deception, sense of duty, bribery.... :D j/k

With the club doing as well as it has been, I'd like for another member to serve as President. So my preference is not to be a candidate for that position this year.

I'm willing to be Officer at Large responsible for random fibers of lint though :D

I know we have active members that would do quite well in several of the BOD positions.

Hopefully we can see some names of those that are interested.

Hey that's my job ;D .. Oh if I elected can I have a ban stick please :D

I vote Jeremy for Prez and Ian for VP .. BAR members get free coral every month ;) ..

So who all might be interested in filling BOD positions?

Or we could just assign jobs to everyone that's posted on this thread so far, hahah :D

Pix, go for it! You'd do well.

A lot of past and present BOD were on the newbie side when they joined the board.

The main things are to be able to put in some time... more online than in person actually. And to be able to work well with others.

:D

well..that eliminates me!!!!

Heys, here is a fun position - if anyone has any questions about the sponsorship position please feel free to let me know.

Sponsorship Director Duties. - Basic stuff that I do.

I am sometimes the first point of contact for the sponsors, and I try to act as helpful as I can for them.

I would regularly try to visit the stores when possible and I as much as possible ask for donations in person.

I always ask to see if the club can help with anything at the shop and sometime, only when asked, give recommendations on what to donate.

I correspond with the sponsors to see if I can post any info for them or I help set them up with an account so they can do it themselves.

Collecting donations for Club events. Lots of Driving sometimes.
-including pick ups from the store ( arrange for someone you trust to do it)
-Collecting Shipments from Sponsors.

Responding to new requests for sponsors, and coordinating any events that involve a sponsor.

Report back to BOD

I would be interested in helping out more, I'm not sure how much that would be as i dont have a tank set up at the moment.
[/quote]I don't think that matters at all Chris, if you are the take initiative type there's work for you.

If there is a position for a quiet, relative newbie, who is willing to help, but who isn't a big visionary type guy, I'll volunteer. Maybe that VP b****, er helper, position :D If there's a place for me that's great, otherwise I can just continue to help out.

We probably won't make the Oct meeting because of the Memory Walk.

Sorry Steve you are in no way newbie you've been to what 2 or 3 frag swaps?? ;)

I'll volunteer for the court jester position if there is one, don't need me saying the wrong thing and affecting the club, so putting the funny hat on me solves the problem :D
