I am not sure what the frist half of that means, but it has always been the case that people think they know what is driving other people, yet somehow they tend not to be on the BOD. The BOD always understands quite a bit about what drives people away, but it all really depends on what the current BOD is trying to do.


Check the bylaws and see what you are looking for is there. I don't think it is, but you can check. Your opinons matter, and decisions get made at meetings.
That said, don't confusing your opinions being not implimented with your opinions not mattering. The BOD listens to what people say, and then makes the decisions they think best, which is their role.


No way IMO. The BOD needs to be able to discuss things plainly and privately. If you want to be in the room where it happens, join the BOD. The BOD hasn't even really addressed this yet, so maybe relax and give them time to do what they are doing.


If anyone doesn't like what the BOD is doing, feel free to join the BOD or start a new club - that is how this one was started.

I’m as relaxed as I can be .

Im sorry but when you take on a title criticism comes with it. More so then not having one.

We’re all here volunteering our time the BODs is no more important then yours or mine. Don’t infer I’m upset or mad about anything I’m as cool as the back side of a pillow.

I’m here for the long run and am aware I come off as a jerk. But a lot of that is simply how you personally interpret text. This is more my space than Facebook or my own group would be.

We’re discussing a sensitive topic. Great stuff everyone!

Well under our title we have to have a BOD.

Again this is nothing I touched on. And is a different topic than the point I made about making public statements as a BOD and saying this is a opinion of a BOD

Love it. Must be something in the North Bay water.

I got a few earfuls from members who balked at my rules. Don’t like them, then simply don’t sign up and certainly don’t comment. But some people can’t help themselves. It’s a shame. And I come across as the jerk. Shhesh.

Gotcha. I get a little defensive when BOD are being grilled. Thanks for the clarification!
 
This discussion began because ClearWater was asked to stop selling SPS corals directly from the bag. The decision was said to be “made but not finalized” through a BOD voting process that wasn’t visible to members.
If the meeting minutes later show something like “BOD voted in favor of not allowing this (X votes for, X against)”, that would demonstrate transparency and accountability in the decision-making process.
 
It's been said plenty of times, but the bod fourm isn't what u think it is. Most of the actual talking happens in the bod meeting.

Stuff that's on the bod side regarding privacy is various account information, things related to sponsors that wouldn’t like their arrangements made public. Those forms are probably not even spoken in every week. I would also suggest attending the bod meetings and you will know everything that some tend to think is some good Ole boys club. The bod consists of individuals each with our own opinions, that rarely line up with everyone else on the bod.

Overall as mentioned above, our goal is to make the club better.

It's like your typical raffle expectations come to the bod meetings. You will be fully informed when present when and if we vote on different things and you are able to give your opinion and suggestions in real time.

For most Raffles you need to be present in order to win.

Anyone that says they would like to attend is sent a meeting invite.

It's easy to say things about the bod, yet harder to quantify those stances or opinions when you don't make the effort to show up to a meeting or run for the bod.

So respectfully let's keep things civil. I love the discussion mostly fruitfull. I would suggest everyone evaluate your responses before posting if such a response would offend you consider regarding It before hitting reply. This is a great club and we will never all agree. Yet we can disagree in civil ways.

this is the typical incorrect BOD stance I’m trying to point out no one cares about the private BOD talks and your missing the point that the BOD need to be held to a higher standard because you speak for the club and it’s members. And comes across to me as more of “I’m warning you because I can look at my BOD tag” rather than being inclusive of everyone’s opinions and simply pilling on. If you don’t like to be criticized don’t put on the cape. Otherwise this is a great club but we tend to puff up our chests at the sight of anything that doesn’t align with that BOD.

Like I pointed out the last time your title holders only to keep the lights on voted in by your fellow members!
 
Hey everyone,
I’m a little embarrassed to admit this, but I couldn’t find any mention of the BOD meetings under Club Business. I spent over an hour looking and came up empty.
I finally had to use ChatGPT to locate them — turns out, they’re actually listed under Events & Announcements.
I’d consider myself pretty tech-savvy, so if it took me that long to find, others might be missing it too.

WIthout them the club would be over and done. Seriously.
The BOD is what makes the club happen, and they do it on their own time, for free, with constant criticism.
If anyone wants to really be heard, attend BOD meetings and be heard. It's pretty straighforward.
 
hmmmmm...may I propose a compramise while the ethics decision plays out?

As a founder of the club, former BOD member (director of sponsorships) and now just an active member......

  1. I think we should continue to allow the sponsors advertise their specials in their forums space provided by the club.
  2. We should ask them not to coordinate their specails on the forum, just using for advertisement space. That way they can run their business as they see fit off the club forum

That is my humble opinion and the club or BOD leadership can vote on it if needed.
 
I think its important to remember that Clearwater is NOT a sponsor or a "partner" of the club. Ed has never been a supporting member.

Speaking as a member of the club, not the president.
